Step 1: You should get your documents
translated to English, if your documents are in any regional Indian language.
Step 2: Thereafter, you have to get your
original and translated documents apostille from Ministry of External Affairs,
India. But make sure that the Apostille from MEA should not have stamp reading
“The Ministry of External Affairs accepts no responsibility for the contents of
above documents” or with any similar text. So, check carefully the procedure of
Apostille attestation done by MEA before submitting your documents for
Apostille.
Step 3: After this, you need to get your
Apostille done documents translated by professional or Embassy recommended
Italian translator.
Step 4: Once you are done with all above
steps then you are good for submission of your documents for Legalization by
Embassy of Italy.
Important instructions
related to Original documents:
The text of the certificate should
contain the date of issuance of certificate and only in exceptional cases where
the issuance dates are handwritten but are clear, legible and complete in all
respect will be accepted. Date of issuance shall comply with the above rules
otherwise will not be valid for acceptance. Specially, Marriage certificate
without issuance date will not be accepted.
PCC should have logo and address of the
office of Superintendent of Police or Senior Superintendent of Police and shall
be issued on the official letter head. Additionally it should have issuance
date as a part of the text for valid acceptance. Also, please check the point
below for rules related to validity of Police Clearance Certificate (PCC).
Depending on its content, Attestation of
Affidavit has to undergo different evaluation criteria. The Embassy of Italy,
accepts Affidavit only in the form of Self-declarations having appropriate
authentications by the designated Indian Authorities and the Apostille by the
Ministry of External Affairs, India.
As per Italian Law, following
certificates (Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Marriage Certificate and
PCC) have validity of 6
months from the issuance date. They should have appropriate authentications by
the designated Indian Authorities and the Apostille by the Ministry of External
Affairs, India.
In last, Embassy of Italy holds the
right to verify any public document presented to them.
