What is Memorandum of Understanding?

A memorandum of understanding is generally a type of agreement between two parties where the two parties mutually agree to follow a particular course of action. This is in very little cases a legally bound statement and this is what differs it from a contract. A memorandum of understanding helps two parties come to the same page on certain terms which can also be said to be a ‘gentleman’s contract’ in a manner. What does a Memorandum of Understanding contain?
